Speaker:
Richard Thompson, Liberty IT
Richard Thompson has been a full time testing professional for over 10 years and is currently working as a Verification Technologist within Liberty IT focusing on strategic testing initiatives and technical testing solutions. Before this Richard was the Verification Manager for Liberty-IT responsible for developing and growing its dedicated software testing team. Previous to this Richard worked as a Quality Engineer for ESA (European Space Agency). Richard started out his career as a laser physicist before making the "obvious" jump into software testing.
Summary:
Organisations are realising that effective testing throughout the lifecycle can provide strategic advantages over the competition in terms of reduced development costs, improved time to market and lower maintenance costs. And more and more organisations are adopting “free”, open source tools and products in order to realise this.
From unit to acceptance testing, functional to non-functional, test automation to code analysis, test management to continuous integration – open source products now exist to meet these needs with proven reliability and good community support.
This presentation will cover:
- A selection of the open source tools, techniques and approaches available today that can add value to development teams.
- Discuss decision points, tool selection, implementation and measuring ROI.
